# Validation Exercise

> Validation activities assess the effectiveness of resilience plans through testing, audits, and reviews to ensure crisis response and recovery processes are fit for purpose.

*This content is available in full at: https://www.fixinc.io/service/validation*

Validation Exercise is part of Fixinc's corporate resilience advisory services. Rather than simply writing strategies, validation activities give people the skills, confidence, and structure to respond when it counts. By identifying gaps and refining strategies, organisations can ensure their crisis response and recovery processes meet operational requirements.

## Validation Exercise Disciplines

To support organisations in achieving true resilience, Fixinc provides five Validation Exercise Disciplines that, if validated annually, ensure comprehensive resilience coverage. Each discipline can be adopted individually but in most cases will form the majority of an organisation's Validation Exercise program. When first engaging with Fixinc, advisors review the progress of each discipline within the organisation to determine current capability.

### Crisis Communications Roleplay Drill

In a crisis, what you say and how fast you say it can define your brand. This module tests communication response through roleplay, scenario pressure, and live messaging practice that reveals team readiness.

- [Crisis Communications Roleplay Drill](https://docs.fixinc.io/disciplines/crisis-communications-roleplay-drill.md): Communication response testing through roleplay and scenario exercises

### Executive Scenario Exercise

Leadership resilience is theory until tested. This module puts executive teams in real-time scenarios designed to validate plans, challenge assumptions, and clarify decision-making under pressure.

- [Executive Scenario Exercise](https://docs.fixinc.io/disciplines/executive-scenario-exercise.md): Real-time scenario testing for executive decision-making

### Operational Team Tabletop Exercise

Plans on paper do not survive first contact with a disruption. This module tests operational teams in realistic, role-specific exercises that expose weak spots and build confidence where it matters most.

- [Operational Team Tabletop Exercise](https://docs.fixinc.io/disciplines/operational-team-tabletop-exercise.md): Role-specific exercises for operational teams

### Responder Capability Review

Plans do not respond to crises, people do. This module reviews the confidence, clarity, and readiness of response teams to determine whether the organisation is actually ready to lead under pressure.

- [Responder Capability Review](https://docs.fixinc.io/disciplines/responder-capability-review.md): Assessment of response team readiness and capability

### Multi-Agency Response Simulation

No crisis respects organisational structure. This module tests how well teams collaborate with external partners, vendors, or regulators, validating whether response holds up under real-world complexity.

## Program Integration

Validation Exercise connects to Fixinc's broader resilience framework:

- **Phase**: Validation Exercise is the Planning Phase of the [Tungsten Diamond](https://docs.fixinc.io/tungsten-diamond.md) lifecycle
- **Maturity**: Validation Exercise involves 5 [Disciplines](https://docs.fixinc.io/disciplines.md) to reach full maturity
- **Maintenance**: Validation Exercise makes up a third of the [Maintenance Program](https://docs.fixinc.io/maintenance-program.md) offering
- **Getting Started**: Start a Validation Exercise program within 48 hours with a [Consultation](https://docs.fixinc.io/consultation.md)

## Program Approach

Fixinc approaches Validation Exercise by simplifying processes, returning to first principles, and standardising programs so anyone at any time can adopt planning and response methods. Programs are collaborative efforts held together by strong and reliable communication. Corporate resilience ensures the ability to adapt, withstand, and recover from disruptions like natural disasters or cyberattacks, safeguarding operations and reputation. Disaster recovery training equips employees to respond effectively in crises, while practical exercises and simulations validate and enhance disaster recovery plans.

## The Tungsten Diamond

When assessing the maturity of Validation Exercise, Fixinc measures against the Tungsten Diamond model. This diagram maps the full corporate resilience spectrum from compliance and planning through to real-time response and technology. The [Advisory Board](https://docs.fixinc.io/advisory-board.md) supports the end response, while the Directory and Resilience Services provide ongoing access to [tools](https://docs.fixinc.io/technology.md), insights, and partnerships needed to strengthen planning.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**How do you ensure leadership teams are prepared for a crisis?**

Training and validation is the single best way to confirm response teams are prepared for any disruption. Fixinc uses a mixture of ISO22301 standards, best-practice modules, and a unique executive crisis framework to ensure individuals are prepared to the highest level.

**How do we begin working with Fixinc?**

Start with an initial consultation to understand needs and objectives through a 45-minute discovery call. This is followed by a digital proposal outlining recommended services, approach, timeframes, and investment required. A detailed project plan is developed based on agreed priorities. Once signed, an engagement meeting is conducted within a four-week window, and then the program begins.

**How do you ensure program adoption across the organisation?**

Fixinc uses engagement strategies including stakeholder workshops, training sessions, communication campaigns, and practical exercises to build awareness and capability across all levels. Relationships with key team members are built through email campaigns, one-on-one meetings, and professional networking.

**Do you provide ongoing support after program implementation?**

Yes. Fixinc seeks to build lifelong partnerships with individuals and organisations. This allows deep integration into organisational fabric and threat landscape, builds relationships where support is always available, and holds Fixinc accountable to ensure resilience capability continuously grows.

**What makes Fixinc different from other resilience solutions?**

Simplicity of programs is the primary differentiator. Fixinc believes resilience can be a simple, modern skill developed through building a culture of resilience and removing the noise of bulky plans and poor technology.

**How long does program implementation take?**

Implementation timeframes vary based on organisation size and complexity, typically ranging from 6-9 months. A detailed project plan with milestones is provided and implementation can be phased to address priority areas first. The quickest program rollout was 4.5 weeks.

**How does Fixinc customise programs for different industries?**

Programs are tailored based on industry-specific risks, regulatory requirements, and business goals through detailed assessments and expert consultations. Hundreds of millions of threat intelligence data sets through technology partnerships enable tailored programs for each organisation in any industry.

**What information is needed to get started?**

Initially, Fixinc needs to understand current resilience capabilities, regulatory obligations, key risks, and strategic objectives. A detailed information request is provided once scope of engagement is agreed via the client portal.

**How are service costs determined?**

Pricing is based on scope of services required, organisation size, and complexity of requirements. Detailed proposals with clear deliverables are provided and engagements can be structured to align with budget constraints. Typical annual business continuity budgets range from $45,000 to $100,000 for entire resilience programs.

**How do services help organisations become more resilient?**

Comprehensive services help organisations prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions through integrated approaches to emergency management, crisis management, IT disaster recovery, and business continuity planning aligned with international standards and local regulatory requirements.

Fixinc focuses on streamlined project management processes using proprietary technology for implementation plans. External factors like team availability may impact timing, but typically a single program takes between 5 weeks and 3 months.
