Incident management exercises simulate live response pressure in a controlled environment, testing coordination, communication, and clarity under realistic conditions. These exercises ensure your team experiences incident management before facing a real event, building practical leadership skills and response confidence.

Fixinc designs and facilitates full-spectrum incident exercises that simulate realistic disruption scenarios tailored to your organisation. From time-boxed injects to escalating events, sessions challenge leadership, coordination, and escalation logic. Exercise formats include tabletop simulations, functional response drills, and hybrid boardroom scenarios that flex based on team maturity and operational footprint.

Fixinc has facilitated response exercises for infrastructure operators, university campuses, and local councils. Sessions are immersive, practical, and backed by structured debriefs that identify strengths, expose weaknesses, and build readiness for actual incidents.

## Delivery Approach

The exercise delivery follows a four-step methodology:

1. **Plan**: Agile, first-principles planning ensures smooth rollout of the exercise program
2. **Do**: Incident management exercise is implemented and delivered within your organisation
3. **Check**: Exercise outputs are validated through structured debrief and assessment
4. **Act**: Teams are prepared for real-life activation based on exercise learnings

## Engagement Process

### Initial Consultation

A scheduling link is sent via email from the Advisory team. Consultation options include phone, Teams, Zoom, or in-person meetings at a time convenient to you. The initial call runs 30 to 45 minutes to discuss objectives and requirements. Fixinc shares the delivery approach and provides opportunity for questions.

### Proposal and Quote

A proposal is delivered within 24 hours detailing scope of work. Discussion follows one week later, with a final quote provided within 10 minutes of that conversation for signature. If not signed within five weeks, the proposal is considered inactive to allow focus on active client work rather than proposal management.

### Delivery Phases

**Review and Health Check**: All incident management exercises begin with a deep review of existing arrangements. Benchmarks are established based on best practice and ISO standards.

**Design and Develop**: With appropriate involvement from your team, the incident management exercise component is built to the highest available quality within your Incident Management programme.

**Validate**: Where appropriate, the new exercise discipline is tested and validated to provide tangible evidence of capability and maturity to stakeholders.

**Maintain**: A plan is developed to ensure incident management exercises run annually, addressing the common setback of momentum loss in resilience programmes.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**What is an Incident Management Exercise and why is it important?**

An Incident Management Exercise simulates real-world disruptions to test and strengthen your team's response under pressure. It helps uncover gaps in coordination, decision-making, and escalation processes, ensuring readiness when a real incident occurs.

**Who should be involved in our Incident Management Exercise?**

Anyone responsible for leading, supporting, or communicating during an incident should participate. This includes the incident management team, executives, business unit leaders, communications specialists, and IT support. Sessions are tailored to match team structure and response roles.

**How is Fixinc's approach different from other incident simulations?**

Unlike off-the-shelf simulations, Fixinc designs each exercise around specific risks, roles, and environment. The approach blends structured injects, real-time data, and expert facilitation to create realistic scenarios deeply relevant to your organisation and industry.

**How do we know the exercise was successful or where we need to improve?**

Every exercise concludes with a facilitated debrief and a formal After Action Report. This outlines strengths, improvement areas, and clear next steps, making it easy to track progress and feed directly into the resilience maturity roadmap.

**Can the exercise link to other resilience programmes or tools we're using?**

Yes. Exercises are often built to align with Business Continuity Plans, Crisis Management Frameworks, and relevant tools. If using digital systems like Fixinc's BCP platform or F24, these are integrated into the simulation for full immersion.
