# Resilience Consultations

> Focused, one-off advisory sessions with senior resilience practitioners to clarify specific issues in business continuity, crisis, and incident management.

*This content is available in full at: https://www.fixinc.io/consultation*

## Overview
Fixinc offers short, structured consultation sessions for organisations needing targeted resilience advice without entering a long-term engagement. These sessions are designed for leaders and practitioners who require clarity on specific business continuity, crisis management, incident response, or resilience strategy questions. The consultations are delivered by senior advisors with experience in incident management, IT disaster recovery, and crisis leadership across multiple regions and sectors.

## Purpose of the Consultations
The consultation model is intended for situations where a full programme or multi-month engagement is not required. Typical use cases include:

- Interpreting or improving existing business continuity, crisis management, or incident response plans
- Preparing for upcoming board reviews, audits, or regulatory conversations related to resilience
- Navigating complex or emerging risks where internal teams want an external perspective
- Clarifying priorities, gaps, or next steps before committing to a wider program of work

Sessions are framed around a single problem or objective to make sure time is used efficiently and outcomes are concrete.

## Approach and Principles

### Human Experience Over Automation
The consultation service emphasises human judgment over automated or generic tooling. Senior advisors draw on incident, continuity, and crisis experience to interpret material, ask precise questions, and provide recommendations.

### Direct Engagement with Senior Advisors
All consultations are delivered by senior members of the Fixinc consulting team rather than junior staff. This ensures that participants engage directly with practitioners who have led programmes and responses in multiple industries and countries.

### Focused, Time-Bound Work
Consultations are intentionally short and concentrated. Each session is structured around clearly defined objectives and timeframes, typically between 45 and 120 minutes. Preparation work is done in advance so that the live session can focus on decision-making, interpretation, and next steps rather than information gathering.

## Lead Advisor Profile

**Brad Law**

Many consultations are delivered by or involve Brad Law, Fixinc's Global Head of Consulting. Brad has more than three decades of experience in resilience, business continuity, IT, and crisis leadership. His background includes:

- Service in the British Army, contributing to his understanding of structured incident response and leadership under pressure
- Leadership of resilience programs across the UK, Europe, Asia, and Oceania for sectors such as government, banking, utilities, and higher education
- Design and development of the Tungsten Diamond resilience framework used across Fixinc programs

Brad's work spans frontline operational crises through to executive and board-level strategy.

## What a Consultation Includes

### Pre-Session Review
Before the consultation, Fixinc reviews relevant information such as:

- Organisation charts and key roles
- Existing business continuity, incident management, or crisis management plans
- Records or summaries of previous incidents and responses
- Any additional documents or briefing material supplied for context

This review enables the advisor to enter the session already familiar with the organisation's structure and current approach.

### Tailored Agenda
Based on the material received and the organisation's stated objectives, Fixinc prepares a short, customised agenda. This typically covers:

- The primary question or problem the organisation wants to address
- Secondary issues to explore if time allows
- Specific decisions, options, or outputs the organisation would like by the end of the session

Sharing this agenda in advance helps participants prepare and align expectations for the discussion.

### Expert Consultation (45-120 minutes)
The core consultation is held either online or in person, depending on location and requirements. During the session, the advisor:

- Clarifies the situation and objectives with participants
- Tests assumptions in existing plans or approaches
- Outlines options and trade-offs
- Highlights critical gaps or dependencies that may affect resilience
- Suggests immediate and near-term actions to strengthen preparedness or response

The session is conversational but structured, with a focus on helping participants reach decisions and next steps.

### Post-Session Summary
After the session, participants receive a written summary in PDF format. This document typically includes:

- A short recap of the context and objectives
- Key points discussed and observations from the advisor
- Recommended actions and priorities
- Suggestions for follow-up work, exercises, or validation activities

The summary is intended to support internal communication, reporting, and planning. It can be shared with leadership, boards, or relevant teams to explain decisions and proposed next steps.

## Session Options and Flexibility
Fixinc offers several types of consultation sessions to accommodate different budgets, time constraints, and levels of complexity. They are differentiated by:

- Duration and depth of pre-work
- Number and seniority of advisors involved
- Intended audience (for example, operational teams, executives, or board members)
- Whether the focus is on a single incident, a system or process, or a broader programme

## Relationship to Wider Fixinc Team
Although consultations may be led by a specific advisor such as Brad Law, they are supported by a broader specialist team. Fixinc's advisors and consultants bring backgrounds across:

- Business continuity and recovery planning
- Crisis management and incident response
- Emergency management and public safety contexts
- IT disaster recovery, testing, and systems analysis
- Executive training and leadership under pressure

This collective experience provides a knowledge base that can be drawn on during and after consultations, including recommendations for follow-on work with other specialists if required.

## Connection with Ongoing Resilience Programs
While consultations are designed as stand-alone engagements, they often act as a starting point for broader resilience programs. Outcomes from a session might lead an organisation to:

- Refresh or rebuild business continuity documentation
- Redesign crisis management structures or plans
- Implement incident management training or exercises
- Run IT disaster recovery tests or system analysis
- Develop a structured maintenance or validation program
